While the platform holder calls it a minor system update - and the patch's description is worded exactly as older one have been - you can't help but wonder what the firm's working on behind the scenes to address PS3's recent security breaches.

"A new PS3 system software update, v3.56, will be released soon," says Eric Lempel, VP of US network operations for PlayStation. "This is a minor update that adds a security patch."

According to rumours earlier this month, Sony is planning to combat PS3 security exploits by shipping new games with unique PC-like serial codes which users will have to input on their consoles to launch titles.

Yeh I heard abot that too, but they are basically doing what EA does with there new game purchases, which is a code that has to be put in to play online and if pre-owned you have to go to the playstation store to buy it. The will officially have when Resistance 3 comes out.
